Lake Shore Lightning '09 is a member of the Lake Shore Athletic Association, founded for the purpose of providing girls in the greater Pasadena, Maryland area an opportunity to learn and excel at the game of softball. LSAA is run by a small, but dedicated group of people that are focused on the development of our future female athletes.
Brendan (Bunky) Suska has been a Lake Shore Lightning softball and baseball coach for 9 years. Creation of a fun, learning-centric, positive culture in which fundamentals of softball are being taught has been the goal since the beginning.
Prior to coaching, Brendan was a hitting instructor at the BATT Academy for multiple years working alongside MLB players in teaching fundamentals to high school and youth players.
During his time as coach, the Lake Shore Lightning '09 club has progressively improved each year, including 4 tournament championships and a 19 game win streak in 2022 versus clubs up and down the east coast.
Outside of softball, Brendan has a Masters degree in Nursing Leadership and has been a RN for 13 years.
Amy Thompson grew up in Catonsville, Maryland and played softball for recreational and travel leagues in Baltimore County, as well as for the Junior Varsity and Varsity Comets of Catonsville High School.
She began coaching in 2015 for her daughter Natalie’s Howard County 8U recreational team. After several seasons coaching recreational softball, she moved to assistant coaching positions with the Howard County Summer All-Stars (Liberty) team, the Howard County Patriots 10U travel team, and the Maryland Fever 10U travel team, prior to joining the Lake Shore Lightning '09 coaching staff in the spring of 2021.
Coach Thompson attended Frostburg State University and the University of Maryland School of Law and currently works as an Administrative Appeals Judge with the Social Security Administration. She resides in Ellicott City, Maryland with her husband and three children.
Alan joined the Lake Shore Lightning '09 coaching staff in the fall of 2022.
Alan was raised in the Pasadena area and is a graduate of Chesapeake High School. He was a Sergeant in the US Army, serving one tour in Afghanistan. He lives in Pasdena with his wife and two children.
